— Why the Platform Matters

You don't own your Wix or Squarespace site. You're a subscriber. That distinction has real consequences.

Proprietary platforms have a ceiling. WordPress doesn't.

Wix and Squarespace are good at getting you online quickly with a decent-looking result. Where they fall short is growth. Both platforms have documented SEO limitations — restricted schema types, server-side rendering constraints, limited URL customization, and no real access to the code. You can't install a plugin that doesn't exist in their marketplace. You can't serve different content by user segment. You can't hand a developer a set of files and say "build whatever we need."

WordPress gives you all of that. More practically: you own the installation. The files live on a server you control. If you want to switch agencies, you take your site with you — there's nothing to "export." The SEO ceiling is as high as the quality of your content and the competence of your technical implementation. For a business that's planning to grow, that matters.

— What's Included

Every Wix / Squarespace migration ships with all of this.

No upsells, no add-ons. The base price covers the full scope below.

/01

Full content export and audit

We export every page, post, image, and form from your current platform before building the new site. Nothing is missed in the move.

/02

Custom-coded WordPress theme

Hand-coded from scratch. Not a Wix-to-WP template swap — a real custom theme built for your business and your content.

/03

URL mapping and 301 redirects

Wix and Squarespace URLs often differ from WordPress conventions. Every URL is mapped, redirects are set up, and tested before the launch cutover.

/04

SEO carry-over

All existing meta titles, descriptions, and canonical tags reviewed and migrated. Wix's proprietary SEO fields mapped to WordPress's standard structure.

/05

Schema markup upgrade

Wix and Squarespace both limit structured data. We implement full JSON-LD schema appropriate to your business type — Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage — in the new WordPress build.

/06

Forms rebuilt natively

Every form on the current platform rebuilt in the new WordPress site — wired to the same destinations (email, CRM) with spam protection and mobile testing.

/07

Hosting setup and DNS transfer

We set up WordPress hosting, configure DNS, verify SSL, and manage the full cutover from the old platform to the new site. You don't touch the settings.

/08

Staging site for approval

The full migration is built on a staging domain first. You review, approve, then we flip the switch. The old site stays live until you sign off on the new one.

/09

Analytics and GSC reconnection

GA4 and Google Search Console relinked to the new domain/installation. Search Console ownership verified and sitemap resubmitted.

/10

30-day post-launch monitoring

We watch Search Console for crawl errors, 404 reports, and ranking shifts for 30 days after launch. Anything that needs fixing, we fix.

— Platform Differences

What changes platform by platform.

Wix and Squarespace are different platforms with different technical constraints. What we watch for in each migration differs accordingly.

— Platform / 01

Wix: URL Structure

Wix often generates URLs with hash fragments or non-standard patterns. These require careful redirect mapping — a URL that looks right can silently 404 without explicit testing.

— Platform / 02

Wix: App Market Lock-In

Third-party apps embedded via the Wix App Market (booking widgets, chat tools, review feeds) need equivalent WordPress integrations scoped and priced in discovery.

— Platform / 03

Squarespace: Template Aesthetic

Squarespace sites often have a distinctive visual style. We rebuild the visual identity from scratch — not a copy of the Squarespace look, but a better execution of the brand intent.

— Platform / 04

Squarespace Commerce

If the Squarespace site includes an active store, product and order migration to WooCommerce requires a separate scope. We assess this in discovery and provide an accurate estimate.

— Frequently Asked

The questions we get most.

Q.01

Why move to WordPress from Wix or Squarespace?

Wix and Squarespace are proprietary — you rent access. WordPress is open source and you own the installation. WordPress also gives you full SEO control, unlimited plugin extensibility, and no dependency on a platform's feature roadmap. For a growing business, these matter more as the site becomes more central to operations.

Q.02

Will I lose my Google rankings during the migration?

Not if the migration is managed correctly. We preserve URL structure where possible, 301 redirect everything that changes, carry over meta tags and schema, and launch from staging. Every Wix and Squarespace migration we've done has held rankings through the transition.

Q.03

Can my blog posts come over from Squarespace or Wix?

Yes. We export blog posts, migrate them into WordPress as posts, preserve publication dates, and carry over slugs. Images embedded in posts come with them. If you have a lot of posts, the migration audit happens before quoting so you know exactly what's included.

Q.04

What happens to my email if it's attached to Squarespace domains?

Email is separate from the website. If your domain is registered through Squarespace, we transfer the domain to an independent registrar as part of the migration. Email hosting (Google Workspace, etc.) transfers independently and typically has no downtime. We walk you through this in detail before any DNS changes are made.

Q.05

Do I have to pay Wix or Squarespace while you build the new site?

Yes — your current subscription stays active until the new site is live. The old site remains live during the entire build so there's no downtime. The day we cut over to WordPress is the day you can cancel the old platform subscription.

Q.06

What about my domain — do I need a new one?

No. Your existing domain migrates with the site. If the domain is registered through Wix or Squarespace, we transfer it to an independent registrar (Cloudflare, Namecheap, Google Domains) so you have direct ownership of it going forward.

Q.07

How long does this migration take?

Six to ten weeks for most projects, depending on page count and the complexity of any integrations. Simple brochure sites move faster; sites with active booking systems, forms with complex routing, or large blog archives take longer. We scope it accurately in discovery.

Q.08

What SEO improvements should I expect after moving to WordPress?

The main SEO gains are structural: full JSON-LD schema control (Wix and Squarespace both restrict this), proper canonical tag management, robots.txt control, and cleaner URL patterns. The result over time is better crawl efficiency and more structured data eligible for rich results. Traffic doesn't jump overnight — it improves as Google processes the cleaner signals over weeks and months.
